      I’ve created what I believe to be a unique class based on traditional asanas as learned in India. Add an always-changing series of warm-ups and flows based on modern interpretations of Hatha Yoga, and you have Wiser Yoga.

The regular Saturday morning classes are 80 minutes long (about an hour and 20 minutes, give or take 5 minutes).  The morning class is about 60 minutes (about an hour, give or take 5 minutes).

How Wiser Yoga is Different

The class flows; you are always moving. In this respect it is closer to a Vinyasa or Flow style class than to a slower Yin class which holds the poses much longer.  However there are also elements of Yin in every class.

I also incorporate a longer warm-up period and a variety of props are used in the class. Props were introduced by BKS Iyengar and allow the student to get into the pose easier and hold it longer. In this way the benefits are still realized without strain to muscles and joints. The props and their uses change weekly. This creates a unique practice specially designed for boomers like ourselves. The class has also been designed to accommodate all-ages and all-levels.

Note: There are no arm balances, extreme back bends or headstands in any Wiser Yoga classes!
