I’ve created what I believe to be a unique class based on traditional asanas as learned in India. Add an always-changing series of warm-ups and flows based on modern interpretations of Hatha Yoga, and you have Wiser Yoga.

The regular  Saturday morning classes are 80 minutes long (about an hour and 20 minutes, give or take 5 minutes).  The lunchtime classes are about 60 minutes (just over an hour, give or take 5 minutes).

How Wiser Yoga is Different

The class flows; you are always moving. In this respect it is closer to a Vinyasa or Flow style class than to a slower Hatha class which tends to hold the poses longer.

I  also incorporate a longer warm-up period and a variety of props are used in the class. Props were introduced by BKS Iyengar and allow the student to get into the pose easier and hold it longer. In this way the benefits are still realized without strain to muscles and joints.The props and their uses change weekly. This creates a unique practice specially designed for boomers like ourselves.

Note:      There are no arm balances, extreme back bends or headstands in any Wiser Yoga classes!

This is the current schedule:

    Saturday Mornings   at  Rasa Flow, 2559 Shaugnessy St., Port Coquitlam :

       10:30 – 11:45 am       Wiser Yoga Class (Hatha Flow – style).  All Levels.

   Thursday  Lunchtimes   at Kushala Yoga, Port Moody *

       11:00 – 12:00 pm       1-hour Wiser Yoga class.  All Levels.

   Friday Lunchtimes   at Kushala Yoga, Port Moody *

     12:30 – 1:30 pm.       1-hour Wiser Yoga class.  All Levels.

*   KushalaYoga is at Suite 303 – 130 Brew St, Suter Brook Village, in the office tower with the liquour store, on the 3rd floor.

+  Rasa Flow Yoga is located at 2559 Shaugnessy Street, downtown PoCo between Waves  Coffee Shop and the Shop-Easy.  A lovely studio!
